“Τhe European Youth Parliament’s mission is to inspire and empower young Europeans to become open-minded, tolerant and active citizens.”
The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a unique educational programme which brings together young people from all over Europe to discuss current topics in a parliamentary setting. Today the EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political debate, intercultural encounters, European civic education and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. The EYP network is present in 40 European countries, where thousands of young people are active as volunteers. The entire network organizes almost 600 events every year. The EYP Pre-selection Days in Cyprus were established and implemented eight years ago, with great success and this year the event will take place on the 7th and 8th of March 2020.
Last Wednesday, on the 29th of January 2020, our school’s delegation comprised of six carefully selected students and their teachers, Styliana Athanasiou and Sophia Violari, had the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue with Polyna Antoniou, one of the Head Organisers of the Pre-Selection days of EYP Cyprus 2020. During our meeting, we discussed issues relating to this challenging yet exciting event which operates as a fair procedure of selecting the 20 schools that will take part in the 14th National Session, which will be held in September 2020. We’d like to thank Ms Antoniou for her presence at our premises and for providing us with all the useful and enlightening information regarding our school’s delegation. Our students are truly excited for their participation in the upcoming passionate and fruitful debates of the Cyprus EYP and we’d like to wish them all the best!
